Yin Yoga
YIN IS IN

Yin Yoga is a passive practice designed to sooth and calm the body, mind & soul, subsequently allowing for a longer and more comfortable meditation sitting.
Yin postures are practiced in line with the Ancient Science of Yoga the 'Three Bodies'

-
A casual body of thought and belief
-
An astral body of emotion and desire
-
A physical body of material substance

A Yin practice is mostly floor based with positions which are held for longer periods of time. Healthy stress is applied to the fascia (connective tissue) of the body which allows stretching and hydration through the natural production of hyaluronic acid. In turn this helps to keep the energy body youthful and additionally stimulates the major energetic highways of the system (meridians).

The aim of Yin is increased circulation, joint strength and mobility and improved flexibility to the overall physical body. It allows space to quieten the mind and heal. By the removal of blockages, the practice can encourage deeper sleep and reduce stress by relaxing the nervous system and returning us to our natural state of peace and tranquility.
